Located near Rochdale is an outfall onto the River Roch, capped in stone and giving way to brick it looks allot like the Works. I made my way across the river with Nckt and we headed in. The brick pipe lasts a short distance before turning into concrete and meeting a chamber.
The second level was at ground level, and looking down a large sewer flowed through a channel in the centre. Two of the walls were made of concrete slats at an angle, quite a breeze was coming in from outside. The chamber seemed to serve to ventilate this section of the system.
Overflow pipes on either side of the chamber gave access to a CSO chamber upstream.
It's a bit more interesting than the usual modern CSO setup and nice to see some brick thrown in for good measure!
