This large box shaped CSO tank serves a 5ft sewer and outfalls to the Medlock in the East of Manchester. Nickindroy and Ojay first explored this tank although there's not all that much that can be accessed, the ladder that would have given access to the tank proper looks to have been stolen. The overflow channel goes across top of the tank along it's width and houses an archimedes screw to screen the flow to the river.
I'd no sooner finished taking the last shot before someone started banging across the lids over the screw. Thinking I'd been caught I packed my stuff and inched out the exit only to see it was cyclists using the lids as part of their run. The place certainly lived upto it's name.
